The Best Breakfasts To Fuel Your Day

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

When you enjoy a breakfast that is high in quality protein & fat you can avoid those common energy crashes, sugar & caffeine cravings that often hit in the middle of the day.

That's because stabilizing your energy and appetite is all about balancing your blood sugar.

Blood Sugar Roller Coaster

Most Americans tend to reach for breakfast meals that are packed full of "fast carbohydrates" like cereal, oatmeal, juice, toast, sugary yogurt and waffles. But this is a big problem and is greatly contributing to the high rates of obesity & other chronic illness in our country.

When you eat a meal full of fast carbs your blood sugar goes up way too high, too quickly. Your body will then release hormones (insulin) to bring your blood sugar back down which can actually cause your blood sugar to crash too low! This will leave you feeling tired, irritable & hangry with cravings for more sugar and caffeine.

These cravings are your body's way of trying to bring your blood sugar back into balance. However, if you give into the cravings then you will just go through the same blood sugar roller coaster all over again. These ups and downs are very stressful to your system and can lead to a variety of other health issues including:

  • weight gain & difficulty losing weight

  • anxiety & depression

  • hormonal imbalances

  • skin problems

  • digestion and gut issues

  • chronic inflammation

  • and more!

This is why I always recommend that my clients ditch the fast carbs and instead enjoy a breakfast that is high in protein, fat & fiber so that you can feel satiated and energized throughout the day.

Here are a few breakfast recommendations to try:
