Bloating, Breakouts, and Brain Fog: Why I Always Start With the Gut

You're doing all the things. So why don't you feel better?
You eat the salad. You drink the water. You've tried the probiotic, cut out dairy, and bought the supplement everyone on Instagram swears by.
And you're still bloated by 3 p.m. Your skin won't calm down. The weight around your middle isn't budging, and your energy crashes every afternoon.
If that sounds familiar, you're not doing it wrong. You're just guessing. And there's a good chance the answer is hiding in your gut.
Your gut does way more than digest food
When most people think about gut health, they think about digestion. But your gut is connected to almost every system in your body.
Immune system: About 70% of your immune system lives in your gut.
Skin: Gut imbalances and inflammation often show up as acne, eczema, and rashes.
Hormones: Your gut helps your body clear out hormones (especially estrogen) it's done using. When that process is off, hormone symptoms can feel worse.
Energy and mood: If you're not breaking down and absorbing your food well, your body runs low on the nutrients it needs to make energy.
Metabolism: The bacteria in your gut play a role in how you store fat and how stable your blood sugar feels.
That's why I always start with the gut when I work with clients. You can be eating well, moving your body, and managing stress, but if something is off inside your gut, those stubborn symptoms tend to stick around.
Why guessing keeps you stuck
Here's the tricky part: two people can have nearly identical symptoms with completely different things going on inside.
One woman's bloating might come from H. pylori lowering her stomach acid. Another's might come from an overgrowth of troublemaker bacteria. A third might not be making enough digestive enzymes. Same symptom, three very different paths forward.
That's why the generic probiotic or the elimination diet you found online might help a little, or not at all. You can't feel your way to the answer. You have to look inside.
Introducing the At-Home Gut Clarity Test
GI-MAP testing has always been part of my 1:1 work. Now that same test is available on its own, no full program required.
The Gut Clarity Test is the GI-MAP plus a personalized video where I walk you through your results and how they relate to your stubborn symptoms & health concerns.
Here's how it works:
Order your test kit online. It ships straight to your door.
Collect your sample at home and mail it to the lab using the kit provided.
Fill out my Gut Clarity intake form so I can get a full picture of your symptoms and concerns.
Get your personalized video. Once your results are in (about 2 to 3 weeks after you mail your sample), I'll record a video walking you through what I found and where to focus first.
No more guessing. Just a clear picture of what's going on and what will actually help you feel like yourself again.
What a GI-MAP test actually looks at
The GI-MAP is an at-home stool test that uses DNA to measure what's living in your gut. It's one of the most thorough gut tests available, and it's the one I use with my 1:1 clients. Here's what it shows, in plain English.

Infectious microbes. Checks for bacteria, parasites, and viruses that could be behind lingering gut symptoms.
H. pylori. A common bacteria that can lead to lower stomach acid, slower digestion, and poor nutrient absorption. The test also shows how aggressive your strain may be.
Beneficial bacteria. The good guys that support digestion, metabolism, mood, and a calm, healthy gut lining. When they run low, an off-the-shelf probiotic usually isn't enough.
Troublemaker bacteria and yeast. Everyone has some. When they overgrow, they can show up as bloating, fatigue, skin flare-ups, and cravings.
Digestion. Shows whether you're making enough enzymes to break down your food and absorb nutrients.
Gut immunity and inflammation. Reveals how strong your gut's defenses are, whether you're reacting to gluten, and whether inflammation could be fueling your symptoms.
Estrogen recycling. One marker, beta-glucuronidase, shows how your gut handles estrogen. When it's high, your body can hold on to estrogen it should be clearing out. This can contribute to hormonal symptoms like weight gain & acne.
